The pilot project “Piercing Through the Gridlocks” is a two-year EU research initiative funded by NetZeroCities that seeks to accelerate and support Reykjavík’s transition to climate neutrality by 2030. The project’s primary aim is to analyse and better understand transport and recycling behaviours and the barriers that hinder this transition through academic research, and to co-create practical solutions to support both residents and businesses in the transition to more sustainable practices. The University of Iceland has conducted two resident surveys and focus group interviews. The results have been used to design evidence-based interventions to encourage greener habits. The project is a collaboration between the City of Reykjavík and the University of Iceland.

As the project is wrapping up, we invite you to join us for a seminar introducing the project, its outcomes, and the key takeaways for municipal planning. The event will take place on 18 August at 13:00-15:00 at Háskólatorg, room HT-101 on the University of Iceland campus and online.
