The performance and discussion are organised as part of the broader programme on diversity issues within the Summer School organised by the University of Alberta and the University of Iceland and highlight the Faroese language in the context of the languages and cultures of the West Nordic region.

The event is a contribution to the International Decade of Indigenous Languages 2022–2032, part of which is a programme focused on the languages and cultures of the West Nordic region.
