The seminar focuses on violence and abuse prevention from different perspectives. First we will discuss and work with the concept of violence / violence regimes. Then Nicky Stanley will go through her research related to preventon /interventin of violence and abuse. We will then have ample time for discussion on topics related to the research of the participants and how they can use the seminar to enhance their knowledge and research skill on violence and abuse. One week before the seminar participants will be asked to submit or send in short abstract describing their research and what they want to focus on during the seminar.

Professor Nicky Stanley, Co-Director, Connect Centre for International Research on Interpersonal Violence and Harm, University of Central Lancashire

Nicky Stanley is Professor of Social Work and Co-Director of the Connect Centre for International Research on Interpersonal Violence and Harm at the University of Central Lancashire, UK. Her research examines gender-based and interpersonal violence against adults and children. Nicky has led international and national research studies on children’s and families’ experience of domestic violence and she has evaluated interventions and programmes addressing violence and abuse. She publishes widely and has produced books on domestic violence and child protection, health and social care inquiries and mothers’ mental health needs. She has contributed to national guidelines and policy on domestic violence.
