Íþróttir og utanríkisstefna í alþjóðlegu samhengi

Þriðjudaginn 21. maí verður haldið málþing um íþróttir og hlutverk þeirra í utanríkisstefnu ríkja á vegum Sagnfræðistofnunar Háskóla Íslands. Sjónum verður sérstaklega beint að hagsmunaaðilum og hlutverki þeirra í að nýta íþróttir í menningarlegum, efnahagslegum og pólitískum tilgangi. Enska hugtakið sports diplomacy er lagt til grundvallar umræðunni og það notað til að greina hlutverk og atbeina ólíkra hagsmunaaðila, eins og t.d. íþróttafélaga, íþróttasamtaka, fjölmiðla og fleiri.

Einn helsti sérfræðingur heimsins í sports diplomacy, dr. J. Simon Rofe, dósent við Háskólann í Leeds, mun halda lykilerindi um hugtakið og framkvæmd þess í vistkerfi íþróttanna.

Málþingið er hluti af rannsóknarverkefninu „Risaviðburðir í íþróttum og pólitískt minni þeirra: Samanburðarrannsókn á Evrópumeistaramótum í knattspyrnu árin 2016, 2018 og 2020“ sem Vitaly Kazakov stýrir. Horft verður til Íslands, Danmerkur, Rússlands og fleiri landa í stuttum erindum en þarna gefst einstakt tækifæri til að ræða íþróttir og tengsl þeirra við utanríkisstefnu í alþjóðlegu samhengi.

Málþingið fer fram á ensku. Hægt verður að taka þátt í málþinginu bæði í sal og á netinu með því að smella á þennan hlekk. Öll velkomin!
